Matthew Allen is an artist from Southern California. Not limited to one medium or mode of expression, Matthew creates through pen and ink, pencil, linocut prints, photography, and watercolors. These processes are used on their own and also combined to create mixed media pieces. Matthew's latest work takes discarded marine canvas and sails and repurposes them into pieces of art. The former Surfer Magazine Art Director is also a clothing designer. While much of his fine art and photography revolves around beach and surf culture, his illustration and design work covers many genres. He spends his days creating illustrations for, and collaborating with, clients such as Ron Herman, Fred Segal, Champion, Vans, Lightning Bolt, Axxe Wetsuits, The Modern Honolulu, Ford Motor Company, Verve Coffee Roasters, the Anaheim Ducks and UNIQLO. Most of his other waking hours are spent surfing, making music, hanging with his niece and nephews and volunteering with foster kids.
